Help Me Stay Housed: Support a Black Queer Doula in Need!
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m a Black, queer, non-binary abortion doula based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve spent years in my community providing support to those seeking reproductive care, offering compassion and strength during some of the hardest moments in people’s lives. Today, I find myself in need of support and am turning to my community for help.
This past July, I was unjustly fired after reporting abuse in my workplace. The job loss was sudden and devastating, but I held onto hope, knowing I’d done the right thing. After being denied unemployment benefits, I started searching for new work right away, applying everywhere I could. Despite my efforts, I’m still facing a financial crisis. Now to prevent eviction, I must come up with $1600 by December 11 to stay housed.
Facing eviction feels overwhelming and frightening. As a queer, Black non-binary person, safe and stable housing is about more than just having a roof over my head—it’s about maintaining my well-being in a world that doesn’t always provide safe spaces for people like me. Staying housed means I can continue my work as an advocate, doing what I love and supporting others who need it most.
I’m reaching out because I believe in the power of community. Over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand how much we can achieve when we come together, and I know I can’t do this alone.
I’m deeply grateful for any support you can provide.
