Let me start by saying that if you know me and my family, you know this is so far out of our comfort zone—asking for help. But I’m doing this because sometimes we all need a little help from our friends to get back on our feet.
Most of you know my nephew, Zeke, is one of the hardest working kids around. Maybe a little tough around the edges, but if you ask for help, he’s there and working hard. He has worked since he was a little kid to build his farm with his siblings and most recently got interested in showing cows more than just at fair time. He has picked up extra jobs over the summer and odd ones here and there to help him pay for his new show cow. He got the barn ready, helped make the space just what was needed for his newest project. He raised the extra money with his jobs and used some from his 4H projects to buy his new cow (pictured above). Unfortunately, on the day he brought his cow home, unloading her from the trailer in the rain, she got spooked and got out of his hands. She ran straight into the road and was killed by two cars right in front of his eyes. The project he worked hard for and dreamt about was taken away in seconds. Although there’s insurance to cover the damages, he is starting over to replace his cow.
This wasn’t the first unfortunate event that transpired that week, and this kid was certainly kicked while he was down. I’m asking for this community to help a kid back on his feet. Show him that he has a village surrounding him that wants to help. If you would consider donating and helping him in this journey, it would be more than appreciated. Anything raised outside of simply replacing his dream will be donated.
With love,
