Zara (name changed for her safety) is my friend’s daughter, a young Syed girl who came to Canada at just 21 years old, full of hope for a peaceful life. Instead, she faced physical and emotional abuse in her marriage, followed by a sudden divorce in Pakistan. Her husband returned to Canada, leaving her alone, vulnerable, and without support.
Her father sent her back, spending all his savings, now fighting for her rights through the legal system, but the burden of lawyer fees, court costs, and documentation is overwhelming. She is trying to continue her education to build a future for herself, but even with OSAP and social assistance, she struggles to afford rent, groceries, and basic living expenses.
Zara has no family in Canada. No mahram. No support system. She is alone, but she is not giving up.
As Muslims, we are taught that supporting someone in hardship is a great act of compassion, and helping a Syed in distress carries immense reward. Your contribution—whatever you are able to give—will help her get through this painful chapter and move toward a life of dignity, safety, and independence.
Please give what you can. Share this with others. And keep her in your duas.
May Allah reward you for every act of kindness.
