Help Yvetta Navigate Life After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
Please assist this single bereaved mother whom just lost her beloved son to a devastating disease.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: a genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting. It affects one in 1500 boys nationwide. Most boys succumb to lung disease or heart disease. They lose their ability to walk by the age of 12 years old. While there is no cure, there is genetic testing to slow down the progression of the disease.
At the age of three, it was noticed that Paulie didn't have the motor skills of other children his age. He was taken to the doctor and they thought he had autism. When he was eight years old, he was taken to see a neurologist. The genetic test results and the diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy was absolutely crushing. The doctors would later explain that due to there being no cure, the life expectancy would be about 35 years old.
At 11 years old, Paulie had his wish granted through the Make a Wish Foundation. Paulie wanted to go to New York. After arriving home from their trip, while walking into the house Paulie collapsed. After this collapse, Paulie would never walk again.
Yvetta had to quit her career to provide him with around the clock care 24/7. By 2009, Yvetta was a single mom. Paulie was homeschooled from the fifth grade until the 12th grade. Their life consisted of countless doctor appointments and hospital stays.
By 2021, he had advanced heart failure and was losing weight. They stayed at the hospital for eight days and were trained on a left heart assist device.
In 2023, the flu almost took his life.
In May of 2024 he was hospitalized for the progressing heart failure where Children's Hospital provided him with the care that he needed so desperately. He had a cardiac event and we were told that without an impella device, the life expectancy would be about two weeks. With that, the device was placed and he was given a fighting chance. By mid July, after many trials and tribulations, he was discharged and sent home with a team of hospice nurses to care for him. He was much stronger upon going home but tragically, he passed away 16 short days after being discharged. Yvetta was blessed to see him take his first breath but was by his side when he took his last, before the age of 20.
Yvetta is faced with the position of not having the basic means to support herself. She has no way of paying for bills, or rent. It will be quite some time before she is able to afford this on her own. At this time, we are
humbly asking for any donation to help support her as she navigates through the most difficult time of her life. No donation is too small.
Our hearts would be filled with gratitude from your kindness and support. Thank you for taking the time to read this and may God bless you.
