If you’ve ever met Yovany, you know him as the guy with the warm smile, the helping hand, and the heart of gold. He’s the kind of person who shows up for everyone—no matter what he’s going through.

In 2022, Yovany’s wife Alejandra passed away suddenly from a heart attack during a family vacation. She was only 28, a devoted mother and beloved teacher. Overnight, Yovany became a single father to their two daughters, Aly (now 14) and Bella (now 12).

Not long after, life brought Nancy into their lives—a single mom of three girls, Chloe (now 17), Emma (now 16), and Avya (now 14). The families bonded over softball and became close friends. Then tragedy struck again: Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. As her health declined, she asked Yovany to become guardian to her daughters. He didn’t hesitate.

Nancy passed away in March. Today, Yovany is raising five teenage girls—navigating grief, school, softball, and everyday life with unwavering love and strength. He works full-time as a mail carrier, helps coach softball, and keeps everything afloat without complaint.
