Over the past few months, you may have noticed some changes around a pillar of the Arts District community
Hola Habibi. For the last 2.5 years, Hola Habibi has established itself as a supportive hub for people coming from all walks of life- from artists, poets, jesters, misfits, original thinkers, and people looking for connection. In a society that breeds alienation, it has acted as a third space for the community in developing culture, exchanging ideas, learning new things, lamenting about life on the outside, talking amongst friends in a comfortable place that feels like home away from home for many
This space has made a permanent mark on so many people that envision and are actively working towards a better future for all
Unfortunately, there are outside forces making it difficult for Habibi to continue to operate as usual. The performance stage is now gone, the lights that once luminated talent and vulnerability- taken away, the patio furniture stolen in a UHAUL overnight, all for reasons undisclosed
The steadfast hands of corporate entities have been rapidly suffocating arts and culture in the area, and have several places that spring life and new ideas in a chokehold. Our friends at Hola Habibi are the latest victims of this abhorrent pattern need our help in fighting the good fight against greed, red tape, and corrupt bureaucracy
