HELP YOUNG Mom - STOLEN & Devastated her story:

STORY:

Young mom of 4 children (ages 2,3 (twins) and 7 years old) found herself in a nightmare when the father of her 4 children was leading a double life for many years with another woman who he also had children with. Up until she found this out, she had dedicated herself as a mom raising their kids and forfeited her chance of her own education. Courageously she left him when she found out he was living a double-life, without a plan in place regarding how she was going to pay for her and her children’s cost of living . She qualified for food stamps and medi-cal and recognized she needed an education so she found an internship program with Headstart for low/no income residents of San Francisco, this program is training her to become a Medical Administrative Assistant and will help to arrange interviews with JVS and UCSF. She also qualified for low/no income daycare, but with no transportation and 4 young children it was difficult to get the kids to daycare and herself to the internship program but she forged ahead on foot. These programs are enabling her to rebuild a life for herself and her children. Then she found another opportunity to apply for an electric cargo bike with SF Bike Match program; the application process took 3 months but was worth the process and wait as the program donated an orange Yuba Mundo E (electric) bike that fit up to 330lbs and runs for 30-45 mins on a single charge! This enabled her to transport all of her kids to and from daycare and herself to the internship program! Learning to navigate the bike was another hurdle, but bruised shins and knees didn’t stop this mom from learning. She felt like she was given a new life!

Then on 4/29/22 at 6:11am between 2nd and Arguello on California St Inner Richmond district of SF from the locked garage area of the building she stays in, the cargo bike was STOLEN, along with the children’s helmets, and saddle bag and gear, she is DEVASTATED! She reported the stolen e-bike to the SF police and they found a Health Savings Card with the name Aaron Walter, and a neighbor provided the police with a video of the person entering but the police have not done much if anything to pursue the person who stole her only mode of transport for her children (picture of e-bike at end of this post). I personally know this wonderful young mom, her name is May Lee Dixon, she volunteered with me for years helping animals in need while struggling to raise her babies; she has an incredible giving heart and with all that has happened to her in her life, an abusive father who left when she was 2, her mother got cancer when she was 14 and died, I’m hoping to help raise money to help her replace the electric bike and I also hope that anyone reading this story will please SHARE it to spread the word…..wouldn’t that be great if the person who stole it turned it into the police?!!
