The story of Yosef & Siham

Yosef & Siham were born in Syria. 20 years ago, they came to the USA to work hard to support their children back home and to pursue a better life. Shortly thereafter, both became US citizens and are proud to call themselves Americans.

Unfortunately, upon returning home to see their children, the Syrian government confiscated all the money they worked so hard to make, totaling $12,000. While in America this is unheard of, in third world countries, control and corruption run deep.

With no way left to turn, Yosef & Siham packed and left Syria for good to escape mindless and unethical crimes that plague many Syrians. Sadly, this meant no choice but to leave their adult children behind.

Now, they live in a friend's basement who graciously accepted them in.

Recently, Siham got sick and the doctor prescribed her medicines that are not covered by insurance.

Through neighbors and good Samaritans, they were able to come up with $800 to pay for a life-saving medicine since they had no money left in savings.

In order to continue to fight for her health, more medicines are needed to treat Siham. While this in and of itself is extremely challenging, their children back home in Syria are starving and in fear of what is next. The cost of food is increasing on a daily basis and our day-to-day earnings are simply not enough.
