Yelitza and Yonny are the kind of parents we all strive to be: the ones doing everything they can to keep their kids safe, steady, and hopeful. Unfortunately, at this moment, they are facing an uncertain future as they navigate the immigration court system and try to protect their family.
They urgently need our help as they work to pay escalating legal and other professional fees. If their case fails, they will be deported to their home country, an outcome that Yelitza and Yonny are desperate to avoid. But what they wish most is to stay where they have built a new community and sense of safety for their children.
They have complied with immigration requirements, consistently following every law and every rule. They sought out employment and community, enrolling their children in the neighborhood public school, learning English, and building friendships. Yonny worked cleaning buildings, then washing dishes, and now delivers food, supporting Yelitza and their four children.
To protect their privacy and the confidentiality of their legal case, we are not sharing the full details of their story. But please believe that this family has a very good set of reasons for wanting to stay in the US, and not return to their home country.
With uncertainty and increasing fees, the family needs immediate support to fight this case and stay in our community. They have worked hard to pay their fees so far and were reluctant to ask for help, so we set this fundraiser as low as we could to help them with their most urgent needs. Please consider a donation to help our neighbors.
