My name is Xochi, and I am a legal immigrant who has faced a tough year. After being out of work for about a year, I recently started working part-time as a substitute. While I am grateful for the opportunity, it has been difficult to keep up with rent, bills, and saving for the future. Right now, my most urgent need is to fix some important immigration documentation. Without these documents, my ability to stay and work here is at risk. In addition, I need a reliable car. Many of the jobs I want to take are too far to reach by bike or bus, especially with the current safety concerns on public transportation. The car would not only help me get to work safely but also open up more job opportunities that pay better and last longer.

Getting these documents updated and having a car would mean I can stay as safe as possible during the emergency we're experiencing. It would also allow me to accept better jobs, as transportation would no longer be a barrier. At the very least, I could work more as a substitute, taking on positions that are further away and better paying. This would help me become more independent and less reliant on community support in the future.
