Help Wyatt & Layla Start Their New Chapter
Donation protected
Hi friends, community, and kind strangers—
Two bright and big-hearted young people in my life—my almost-twenty-year-old Wyatt (bread-slinger for Yawning Bear and beloved babysitter for kids in foster care) and their older sister Layla (mail-lady and college student studying sign language and special ed)—are getting ready to step into a brand new chapter: living on their own for the very first time.
After years apart in separate foster/adoptive homes, these siblings are getting the chance to live together again—and build something of their own. It’s exciting, a little scary, and a huge leap into adulthood. As they pack up and prepare to move into their first humble abode together, we’re reaching out for a bit of community support to help them get started.
They’re not asking for anything fancy—just the basics to help them feel safe, comfortable, and ready to thrive: a few pieces of furniture, a good bread knife, some lentils and sparkling water, a good broom, and a little breathing room as they find their footing.
These two have been through a lot—and through it all, they’ve stayed resilient, funny, wise, and full of heart (and crochet needles). Now it’s time they feel how held they can be by a community that believes in them and their bright futures.
Whether you’re able to give $5 or simply share this link, thank you. Every bit helps them feel a little less alone in this big transition.
With deep gratitude,
Rachel
P.S. if you have a lawnmower or a car collecting dust and looking for a new home, that’s a need too! Transportation would be a huge help in this next chapter. Feel free to reach out.
