Financial impact of recent cancer diagnoses

I'm setting this gofund me page to try help my brother kieron (and his family), who has recently been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer known as "squamous cell carcinoma".

Unfortunately they are unable to surgically remove this. His treatment will consist of 5 and a half weeks of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Two weeks he will remain in the hospital and the remaining will be spent travelling daily to Edinburgh.

As you can imagine this will take a huge toll emotionally, physically and financially.

My brother has been self employed for many years, unfortunately, he does not have insurance or savings to help throughout this time. His partner Fiona, is also self employed therefore will not earn money whilst taking time off work to take my brother to appointments, hospital trips, to care for him on top of all the other daily running of the home and caring for their two you gest children. This will leave them in an extremely difficult position financially.

No one talks about the financial impact that comes along with a cancer diagnoses. The stress and worry on top of already trying times can be unbearable.

All I'm aiming to do is try take the pressure and for them to worry less whilst they face the difficult journey ahead.
