My name is Carolina Román, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult and unexpected moments of my life.

Recently, I experienced a devastating incident in my apartment when the fire sprinkler system was accidentally triggered on the 4th floor of my building.

What initially seemed manageable quickly turned into severe water damage that has now made my entire apartment completely uninhabitable.

After consulting with my landlord and contractors, it’s clear that repairs will take several weeks, including replacing drywall, flooring, and other essential structures.

This has left me without a safe place to stay.

I am not alone in this situation. I have three emotional support animals, my two dogs, Blue and Bella, and my tabby cat, Mr. Sunshine.

They are more than pets; they are my daily source of comfort and emotional support, especially during difficult times like this.

I currently rely on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which covers only my basic needs. Unfortunately, it does not allow me to handle sudden emergencies like this, and I was not prepared for such an unexpected displacement.

I am raising funds to help cover urgent needs during this time, including:

• Temporary housing (Airbnb or short-term rental)

• Transportation costs (Lyft, Waymo)

• Replacement of essential belongings damaged by water

• Pet care and replacement of lost pet items

• Relocation and daily living expenses
