Stella Marie Ellsworth
Born at 29 weeks on September 14, 2021 @ 3:18pm.
14.5" long and weighing 2lbs. 1oz.
Luke and Alex went into the hospital that morning just to have a check up because something just didn't feel right. Upon arrival, nurses watched baby very closely. The baby's heart had a slight arrhythmia, but nothing the nurses were too concerned about at the time. Waiting to have an in depth ultrasound at 4:30pm, they noticed Alex was having contractions 4 minutes apart that she wasn't feeling. Alex and Luke got admitted into a room and were waiting for the ultrasound. Shortly after getting into the room, baby's heart rate started dropping significantly. Doctors and nurses were watching very closely and decided it was time for an emergency C-Section. As nurses prepped Alex, Luke got dressed in the provided scrubs. After getting wheeled into the OR, nurses told Luke to wait outside and they would come and get him after everything was prepped. Baby was still in distress and there was no time, they had to perform the C-Section ASAP. Luke waited outside. A short 15 minutes after getting wheeled into the OR, baby was out and headed up to NICU. Luke followed baby up to NICU while nurses got Alex to recovery. Baby and Alex were both doing good. While in the recovery room, Luke told Alex that it was a girl and they named her Stella. Later that night after Alex got a room, Stella was transported to a better equipped hospital via ambulance. Less than 48 hours later, Alex was released and her and Luke went to go visit Stella.
Stella is expected to stay in the NICU for a couple months so she can grow and be closely monitored. Luke and Alex are patiently waiting to bring Stella home to meet her big sister, Paislea. While Stella is in the NICU, the family will need as much support and help as they can get - luckily they know they have a huge village around them.
