On August 28, my mom was involved in a serious car accident during a severe storm. While driving she unfortunately hydroplaned, lost control of the car, and ended up flipping it into the woods. They had to use the jaws of life to get her out.
Thankfully, it could have been much worse, but she only suffered a concussion, cuts to her face, a broken left leg and torn ACLs and menisci in both knees. After spending 10 days in the hospital, she underwent surgery to repair her left ACL and meniscus. She is now in recovery but still needs additional surgery on her other knee when she’s ready. She’s unable to walk for 6-8 weeks without some sort of assistive device.
Since the accident, my mom has been unable to work, and she’s also struggling to care for my disabled younger brother Braden. While my siblings have been doing everything they can to help back home, I feel incredibly guilty for not being there to support them in person. It’s been really tough for everyone, especially since there’s a shortage of available nurses to help care for my little brother.
On top of all this, my mom is now without a car, making it even more difficult for her to get to doctors appointments/ therapy for her or my brother, and eventually returning to work when she’s able to.
Growing up, my mom went through so much and still continued to do anything and everything for my siblings and I. She has always been there so I’m trying to do anything that I can now to support her since I can’t be there physically to help out.
If you are able to contribute, any donation big or small will help my mom get back on her feet, cover some medical expenses, and save for a new car when she’s able to drive again. If donating isn’t an option for you right now, sharing this would mean the world to us. Thank you for your support!
