Hi, my name is Felicity Hallett. I am reaching out to receive help for my grandmother, Sivella, for the sudden and unexpected funeral costs for my grandfather, Wayne Stuart. This has been a shock and devastation to our entire family, but especially to her. They would have been celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary this year. Our entire family is heartbroken and at a loss for words. This is an impossibly hard situation.
On Tuesday, March 10th, my grandfather went out ice fishing in Belleisle, NS with his friend. My grandmother spoke with him around 3pm on his cell phone and he said he would soon be leaving to head back home to Lockeport. A couple hours had passed and no one had heard from him. His cell phone was no longer reachable. As he was a fisherman by trade and an avid hunter, he was often out doing these kinds of activities. We had hoped for the best that maybe his phone battery had died or he had lost it. But after a few more hours passed, and he did not return home, we contacted the police to go search for him and his friend. They were able to locate the truck, but they were no where to be found. They told us that they could see some of the fishing gear in the water. Teams searched overnight with the help of a helicopter to try and locate them. By morning, more teams were sent out to continue the search.
At approximately 1:45pm on March 11th, myself and some of my other family members were in Belleisle when one of the search and rescue teams discovered a body in the river. Boat crews were needed to recover him from the water. My uncle was able to positively ID that this was my grandfather, Wayne. We were so devastated, but also relieved to have found him and be able to have a bit of closure. Crews are still out searching for my grandfather's friend and we are all praying that he will be found and that his family will also get some closure.
My grandmother is heartbroken and grief-stricken. She will now have to cover all of the funeral costs and she is on a low, fixed income. And now, after losing him, she will be on an even lower income. They did not have any kind of insurance to help cover these costs. I am asking that you make a small donation to help her with these costs and to help ease the stress of an already horrible situation. Any little bit helps, even just sharing this post to others. She is an incredible and godly woman and your prayers are also very welcome for her and our family.
Thank you to all of the crews who helped find my grandfather and are continuing to search for his friend. It is so appreciated by all of us. We also appreciate every person who has reached out to offer their sympathies during this horrible time.
