Hello,

I am writing on behalf of Jessica Stuever, a dedicated full time mom to 5-year-old Griffyn. Our friend Jess is facing a tremendous challenge alone as she cares for her son and works to set roots for her family in Phoenix.

As you know, Jessica has made being a mother her career and livelihood. She gave up her life in Arizona to move in with her parents in Kansas after Griffyn was born so she could stay home with him, be with him, nurture him. Since his birth, despite a traumatic delivery and postpartum period, she set aside her personal goals and ambitions to dedicate her life to her son. In the meantime, she has earned money by dog and house sitting, freelance photography, selling used items on Marketplace, and doing what she can in pockets of time. Most nights after tucking Griffyn in for bed, when she’s not studying for her bookkeeping certification, instead of resting she consumes child development content via books and podcasts so that she can exercise being a gentle and compassionate mother. All she wants is for Griffyn to feel unconditionally loved, secure, and worthy.

Jessica intentionally avoided the legal system for years for fear of it draining the energy and resources she needs to be a present mama for her son who only sees his father every 4-8 weeks. Last year she requested that child support increase consistent with the cost of living and was optimistic that she and her child’s father could work out a number between the two of them. Unfortunately, she’s now drowning in a legal process she did not initiate which will require thousands of dollars she does not have.

In the almost 15 years that I have known Jessica, she has attended bridal showers, bachelorette parties, birthdays, weddings, and weekend trips to celebrate the choices of her friends (myself included). Right now, Jessica and Griffyn need support from their community. This is our chance to help.

The attorney’s retainer is $4,000. Any funds raised here will go directly to that total so she can quickly move forward with a resolution. Even a $5 donation relieves some anxiety for her. No amount is too small! She is humbled and grateful for your consideration, and I'm confident we can all make a difference for her.
