Help with Izzy and Mac medical travels
Meet Izabella May and Mackenzie Ann. They are amazing identical twin girls who came in to this world 11 weeks early on February 20th. They are currently being cared for at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah by the amazing doctors and nurses in the NICU. Both girls have BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) due to their premature birth, being on ventilators and the lung infections Mac had. They should get better with age, but there will be a lot of follow up. Both girls are currently dealing with a rhinovirus and will be in the NICU for a while as they still need to learn to eat and grow.
Ogden is 2 hours from home and in order to help care for the girls, Konica is staying at the hospital guest house for $25 a night. Which is fantastically cheap, but adds up quickly. Jonathan is staying in Heyburn with the rest of the family to watch the kids and continue working, and then traveling to Ogden when ever he gets the chance. Sometimes he brings the kids, sometimes they stay home with their grandparents. Sometimes, Jonathan needs to run down to Ogden to bring Konica back up for the weekend for normal world things.
After two months of this we are getting to the bottom of all our reserves, which we only made it this long because there have been some amazing people in our lives. The money raised here would go towards Konica’s stay at the guest house, food for Konica, gas for Jonathan to travel to and from Ogden. As well occasional meals in Ogden for the family. This includes any future travel to Ogden for doctors appointments once the girls are able to come home, and there will be many of these appointments during their first year. Any money left over will then be donated to the NICU at McKay-Dee.
We are so very grateful for all of the love and support we have received and continue to receive on a daily basis. We know that our family is loved worldwide and we appreciate all of the help we have and will receive. Thank you.
