Hello everyone. I am trying to help a friend in Colombia. His name is Wilmar Rueda. He is a Quadriplegic. He Lives in Medellin in a poverty stricken neighborhood commune. Wilmar has mobility issues and says his hands are not the strongest and they don’t serve him well to manually push himself. Due to this, he has to make a lot of effort to push himself. He also mentions how it’s dangerous when he’s pushing himself because he hast to lean side to side and he doesn’t have an armrest that supports him so he could fall off his chair pushing his wheels on either side when he leans. Also, his back gets very tired due to the constant labor of pushing the chair due to the fact that he has spinal cord trauma on his high cervical nerves (level C4). Having his own wheelchair would really help him be more independent and facilitate his daily endeavors tenfold if not more. He lives in a poor town in Medellin which doesn’t have access to the tools he needs for accessibility such as being able to get a wheelchair. I’m trying to help him by raising money so we can get a new chair for him and this would be his first electric chair. I remember when I got my first electric chair it was life-changing I felt like I had some sense of independency back, it was really like a sigh of relief. Whatever y’all could help with is greatly appreciate it and just know this is going towards a great cause. I am buying a $2000 electric foldable chair on Amazon that would be really convenient for a country like Colombia which is not that handicap accessible because you could fold the chair up and take it wherever. There are only 4 left in stock so if you could help out I would greatly appreciate it.
