My family in Westmoreland, including five children—one of whom is an 11-month-old baby—live together in a “family yard” structure with five small houses that generations of our family have built and shared. Sadly, since the hurricane, every roof was destroyed, leaving them exposed to the elements and affecting their health and safety. They are without electricity, water, and enough food to sustain themselves. They also lost some of their belongings. The situation in Westmoreland is critical, and because of the widespread destruction, we have no idea when basic utilities will be restored.
My parents, siblings, and extended family are doing their best to stay strong and rebuild, but we cannot manage on our own. We are humbly asking for any assistance and support, no matter how small. Funds raised will be used to secure food and water, make essential repairs, and replace lost necessities.
Please help us restore our family’s home, lives, and sense of security for our children and elders.
