- O
Friends, family, and compassionate neighbours,
We are William and Francois Anderson. We are both from Westgreen, a tight-knit community in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We both currently reside in the United States, and are reaching out on behalf of our beloved community. Westgreen is facing a crisis that has profoundly tested its resolve.
The Catastrophe: Hurricane Melissa didn't just bring rain; it brought devastation. When the Barnett River breached its banks, it resulted in a staggering destruction of our community: homes have been flooded, and personal belongings, furniture, appliances, and irreplaceable memories have been completely ruined or buried in thick mud. Our community has lost the sense of home overnight.
As we continue to assess the full extent of the damage, one thing is painfully clear: the road to recovery is long, and we cannot walk it alone.
Our Partnership and Plan: We are partnering directly with our trusted local pillar, the Westgreen Jamaica Bible Church , to ensure every dollar collected goes directly to those most in need.
Here’s what your donation will immediately fund:
- Immediate Relief: Purchasing essential supplies—clean drinking water, non-perishable food, temporary tarps, and basic hygiene kits for families currently displaced.
- Rebuilding Materials: Procuring critical construction materials and basic hand tools needed for the cleanup and rebuilding.
- Structural Support: Assisting members of the community with urgent, localized repairs to make their homes safe and habitable again.
Our Promise of Transparency: Given the sensitive nature of this effort, we promise full, transparent accountability. We will provide updates, photos, and a clear breakdown of how funds are deployed, working directly through the established channels of the Westgreen Jamaica Bible Church, to maximize impact and restore faith in our community’s future.
We know the spirit of Westgreen is strong, but right now, our community needs a lifeline. Please, give what you can. Every dollar is a warm meal, a clean drink of water, and a testament to humanity.
Thank you for standing with Montego Bay and helping us bring our beloved Westgreen community back to a place that feels like home again.
We also want to make a plug to Jamaica's national relief effort to help with the country's recovery from the hurricane.
