Help Wendy & Baby Fin
Donation protected
As a cohort of training school psychologists, we have come to know Wendy so well over the last few years. She is a kind-hearted, hard-working woman with an immense passion for helping others, especially children. Anyone who crosses paths with Wendy, has experienced her loving humor and empathy which brings such light to others.
On September 7th, Wendy and Nathan welcomed their son, Finley Everett Walker to the world at 2 lbs 9 oz and 14 inches long. Despite the joy of meeting their sweet baby Fin, they welcomed him prematurely at 27 weeks. Since then, Wendy, Nathan, the medical team, and sweet Fin are doing everything they can to support his development, all while he also faces a wide range of medical challenges and risks. Due to Fin's early arrival, he was admitted the NICU. Unfortunately, with only 7 days of life and fight behind Fin, he developed a severe brain bleed. This is among the highest risks of brain damage and resultant disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, etc. More recently, Fin has been diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia, a brain cyst, and Hydrocephalus. This has required the need for neurosurgery to relieve the pressure in his brain. However, Fin's vital organs (i.e. leaky heart valve, kidney function) have not been stable enough for a surgery. While awaiting the "green light" for his surgery, Fin's Hydrocephalus has worsened and his medical team decided the need for emergency surgery despite his unstable condition. Fin will be undergoing his first of multiple neurosurgeries shortly.
In a short time span, baby Fin has experienced a long and difficult journey, which he continues to fight through.
As friends and cohort members of Wendy, we want to do anything we can to help give back to someone who always gives back to others.

Wendy and Nathan have been through an emotional and physical rollercoaster over the past few years. As graduate students and emerging school psychologists, we understand and recognize the depth of financial hardship that comes with student loans. We also recognize the added hardship of hospital bills and other day-to-day expenses that Wendy and Nathan are experiencing right now in their fight to support Fin.
If you are willing and able, please consider donating to this cause. In any small way we can, let’s try to give this amazing family a small piece of positivity during a challenging time. Right now our goal remains open but we want to provide as much support during this hardship.
Continue to keep baby Fin in your thoughts! He is a fighter, just like his momma, but needs all the love and support he can get right now
