Nana Abena Grace James is the Chair of 6RegionTz, a registered NGO in Tanzania dedicated to providing repatriation services for the Historic African Diaspora.

In mid-2023, a few of our members visited Wama Girls Secondary School in Lindi, sparking our interest in a potential partnership. Then, in December 2023, when the school had to close early due to a shortage of supplies and the principal directly appealed for help, we immediately stepped in to assist.

Wama Sharaf Secondary school is a girls’ only boarding school. Wama provides O-level education to qualified students who are recruited from all over Tanzania. The school offers studies under the curriculum of Tanzania (O-level studies), and its mission is to encourage the students towards science studies.

At Wama, education serves as a meaningful pathway to empowerment. But for many of these bright young girls, their journey to success is being hindered by a lack of basic necessities—especially access to clean water. The school’s well, a vital source of water, is broken, forcing students to walk long distances to fetch water instead of focusing on their studies. We need your help to change that!

Our Goal: We are raising funds to repair the school’s well so the students have a reliable, clean, and accessible water source right on campus. Additionally, we aim to provide essential school and personal supplies to ensure that these young girls have everything they need to thrive in their education.

How Your Donation Will Help:

Well Repair: Fixing the well will eliminate the need for long and often unsafe trips to collect water.

School Supplies: Books, uniforms, and other learning materials to support their education.

Personal Essentials: Hygiene products and other basic necessities to improve their daily lives and well-being.

Sustainability Activity: Provide irrigation for the vegetable farm they have, which helps with providing the food they need - in addition to lessons in Agriculture and Business activities.
