Help Wafaa and her family in Gaza

My name is Joana and I am from Portugal. I am organising this campaign for my friend Wafaa and her family that are now in Northern Gaza, a place where having access to the basic needs such as food, is very difficult.

I hope that you will read her story and that your donations will give this family the basic comfort that everyone deserves.

I am Wafaa, I am 34 years old, I am married to Muhammad and I have 4 children: Maryam, Jamil, Karam and Joud, with 16, 15, 11 and 10 years old.

I am in the northern Gaza, in Al-Darj neighbourhood.

Before the war, we had a peaceful life, my children were bright students, the top of the classes. Maryam, the eldest was distinguished in her school.

Our house was bombed so we are displaced in my husband’s uncle house.

The house is small, there is no water, not even a bed or electricity.

During our displacement, my husband was injured in his thigh.

My children and I suffer from hunger as there is intense lack of food.

My son Joud has an injured leg and Karam has a skin problem due to malnutrition.

I cannot provide them the treatments.

They long to eat tomatoes and cucumbers. In northern Gaza we do not see meat. The price of vegetables are high beyond imagination. Even a small piece of soap is very expensive. Everything is expensive due to the scarcity and shortage of materials.

They long to sleep in a bed.

Now, we have to use bags and pieces of worn-out clothing in order to do the fire for cooking. There is not even wood to light a fire and cook on it.

My children have to work hard to provide a bucket of water for us to bathe and cook in. They walk long distances and their sweat pours down.

How the donations will be used:

I will use the donations to buy treatment for my son Karam, that has a skin disease and for my little son Joud, who needs antibiotics. We need to buy clothes and some detergents. I want to be able to afford to buy tomatoes, eggs and milk for them, as they long to eat them. And I will design a room, if I can, above my bombed house.
