Wade Vetter, the tire guy from Premier Mobile Tire, needed our help after Wade's mobile tire van and all the specialized equipment were completely destroyed by fire on Monday, March 19.
Wade didn't ask, but we knew he could use help in the short term to keep afloat and get back in business to support his family and employees.
My name is Rick Gilbert. I'm a retired Superior Court Judge and track junkie who has been helped by Wade many times. Other track folks who Wade has helped are wanting to assist, so I volunteered to get this rolling. Wade is working on insurance reimbursement, but it will be slow and may not cover everything. The plan is to keep track of donations and, as the insurance situation becomes clear, stop accepting donations and refund anything extra. I will take personal responsibility for that effort.
Here's the plan:
- Phase 1: Get funds in the door quickly to replace the smaller tools needed for Wade to do what work he can, including as graciously allowed by brick and mortar shops at tracks, and provide some income replacement for personal needs and carrying the business and employees while a new van is built out.
- Phase 2: After getting the details on acquiring/building out a new van, have the funds available to jump-start that process. First run with the insurance folks is seeming more daunting than usual. It's now clear the process will be long and painful with lots of "not covered" obstacles to overcome. As a result, with your incredible, generous support, let's get started on setting the Phase 2 base now.
- Phase 3: When the dust settles, do a final accounting of donations and insurance, and see what reimbursement can be made to donors. I know Wade would not want a penny from anyone that wasn't a real necessity.
The response from the community has been amazing. While the stated fundraising goal has been exceeded, I can tell more would help.
One of the things that keeps me on the track has been the support and encouragement my track family provides. Thanks for paying it forward for someone that works hard and is always there, early mornings, after the track is cold, and in our driveways, keeping us rolling.
