Wa Lor was one of the few individuals detained on July 30, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. On July 15, 2025, he received a letter in the mail instructing him to report to ICE for what he believed was a routine interview. He had no idea that day would be his last with his family.
That morning, he left early, thinking it was just a regular check-in. We never had the chance to say goodbye, and neither did his children.
After being detained in Detroit, Wa was given no due process. He was quickly placed on a military plane and transferred from Michigan to Texas. From there, on August 11, 2025, he was deported to Laos—leaving behind his wife and four children without answers, without closure, and with broken hearts.
As his wife, I am left carrying the heavy burden of explaining the unexplainable to our children—why their father is suddenly gone. The pain, confusion, and tears have been overwhelming. It took weeks before we could even find the strength to speak about what happened to their father.
I am now asking for the help of anyone who is willing to support Wa during this incredibly difficult journey. Donations will go toward Wa’s essential needs and daily survival as he navigates life in Laos alone. I hold onto hope that one day there will be a pathway to reunite him with his children and bring him back home.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Wa’s story. Every share, every prayer, and every act of support means more than words can express.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
