Help Viet-American Immigrant Parents Rebuild After Burglary

Hello everyone, I am doing this for my parents. All proceeds will be for them. They do not know that I am creating this because of how they are; they feel ashamed of asking for help.

We are Vietnamese-American. Our family immigrated from Vietnam in 1995 to California in pursuit of a better life with nothing in our pockets. My parents worked hard for what they had. They did not have a degree; they worked endlessly for us to have a future, only for everything to be gone in the blink of an eye.

They recently moved out of the Bay Area with my brother to start a new life because it was getting too costly.

Before my brother went on vacation, due to our parents' age (mid-70s and mid-60s), with little to no English, not knowing the area well, and no family in the new area, he did not feel comfortable leaving them alone while he went on vacation. So, he drove them back up to the Bay Area to live with our sister and her husband. While my parents were up in the Bay Area, unbeknownst to them, their new place had been burglarized and ransacked. Thirty years' worth of belongings (new and old), memories, savings, and sentimental possessions were gone.

They are back to square one, with nothing. We were heartbroken.

But I know there is still good in people, so now, we are reaching out to the community for help, to ease the burden off of my parents' shoulders.

Thank you, everyone.
