On 17–19 January 2026, a devastating fire tore through Gul Plaza, a bustling shopping centre on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi, Pakistan, destroying the building and devastating hundreds of families. The blaze raged for nearly two days, claiming the lives of dozens of people, leaving many more missing or injured, and annihilating hundreds of family-run shops and livelihoods.
