My name is Malika Sawadogo, I am a senior majoring in Business Management at Skidmore College. I am very passionate about sustainability and clothing, that’s why I founded MESTH Collection, a clothing brand that educates customers about sustainable African Fashion. With philanthropy being part of our core values, we pride ourselves in donating 5% of our net income to widows and orphans in Burkina Faso to support our community. However even with our quarterly donations of food and cleaning supplies we need further support to help those in need and impact their lives.
Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa, has been grappling with a devastating wave of terrorist attacks since 2015 that have forced many innocent civilians to flee their homes in search of safety. The capital city, Ouagadougou, has become a refuge for those seeking shelter from violence and instability. As these displaced families struggle to rebuild their lives, they are in desperate need of food, supplies, and essential resources to survive.
While Ouagadougou offers relative safety compared to the conflict-ridden regions, the influx of displaced people has placed a tremendous burden on the city's resources. These families, already traumatized by the violence they've endured, are now struggling to meet their basic needs. Food, clean water, shelter, and medical supplies are in short supply, making their situation even more dire. We have in total 2.06 million displaced people living in Ouagadougou in tents who need support.
I have launched this GoFundMe campaign to extend a helping hand to those who have been uprooted from their homes and are now trying to rebuild their lives in Ouagadougou. Your generous contribution can provide critical assistance to these displaced families in the following ways:
1.Food and Nutrition: Ensure that families have access to regular meals, combating hunger and malnutrition. We will buy food supplies such as rice, spaghetti, oil etc…
2. Cleaning supplies : Soap, Powdered soap etc…
3. Reusable Sanitary pads : for women during their period
Please help us collect $ 2000 by november
No contribution is too small, and every dollar you donate will directly impact the lives of those affected by the crisis in Burkina Faso. Your generosity will provide hope, relief, and a chance for these displaced families to rebuild their lives while they wait to regain their homes, their independence.
We also encourage you to share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to maximize its impact. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.
The people of Burkina Faso are facing unimaginable hardships due to terrorism, and the residents of Ouagadougou have opened their arms to welcome the displaced. Your support can help ensure that these families have access to the essential resources they need to survive and rebuild their lives. Let's come together as a global community and provide hope in the face of adversity.
Donate today to support Burkina Faso and its resilient people
