Nearly half of all teachers have experienced threats or physical assault at work. Threats toward educators have increased 2x since 2010. Every day, teachers, bus drivers, counselors, cafeteria workers, and school staff walk into buildings where they may be punched, kicked, bitten, or threatened — and in most states, there is no law that specifically protects them.

That changes now.

Who We Are

The Violence-Free Schools Alliance (VFSA) is a new national organization dedicated solely to passing the Violence-Free Schools Act legislation in every state and at the federal level. We are the first and only organization in the country with this singular mission: protecting those who protect our children.

We believe that if schools are gun-free zones, they should be violence-free zones. Physical violence has a clear, objective definition — you either punched someone or you didn't. This isn't about punishment; it's about protection. Students who are removed continue their education in alternative settings with behavioral intervention and a clear path back. The classroom stays safe for everyone.

Become a Founding Member!

We are in our founding stage. Before we can accept tax-deductible donations as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we need seed funding to get off the ground. Your contribution to this campaign will directly fund:

• Filing fees for nonprofit incorporation and 501(c)(3) status

• Basic equipment and technology infrastructure

• Server space and website hosting

• Software licenses and subscriptions for operations

• Initial marketing and public awareness efforts to grow our reach

• Start-up salaries so our small founding team can work on this full-time

Our goal is $50,000 — the minimum we need to formally establish the organization, build our operational foundation, and begin the real work of advocating for educator safety legislation across the country.

What We Will Do

With your support, VFSA will:

• Draft and promote model Violence-Free Schools Act legislation for adoption in all 50 states

• Build a national incident reporting system so educators can anonymously document workplace violence — giving us the hard data needed to drive policy change

• Advocate at the state and federal level for meaningful legal protections for school personnel

• Create a national network of educators, parents, administrators, and community members united around school safety
