I am Nancy Dunn. After 51 years as a nurse and a lifetime studying wellbeing, I am more certain than ever that we can help veterans rebuild resilience after trauma. My father was a fighter pilot for 30 years and, though he endured things that were hard to bear, he found a way forward. Because of him I believe no veteran should face that struggle alone.
Stop Soldier Suicide has a bold, evidence-based plan to reduce veteran suicide to civilian parity by 2030. They combine data-driven insight, proactive outreach, and a high-touch, high-frequency case management model that meets veterans where they are. Their approach is built on positive psychology and neuroscience, the very tools I have spent my career advancing to relieve human suffering.
When we support this work, we give veterans access to assessments, targeted interventions, and consistent human connection that can change the course of a life. This is not about short-term fixes. It is about creating a system that sustains veterans through recovery and builds lasting wellbeing.
Please join me in supporting Stop Soldier Suicide. Your gift will help bring proven, compassionate care to veterans in need and move us closer to a future where no veteran is lost to suicide.
This 250 mile challenge will be met when I ride my bicycle from Salzburg Austria to Grado Italy July 18th-25th with my partner Ryan. It is my own personal goal for quality longevity for my 75th birthday this year.
