Stop Soldier Suicide

This fund raiser is to provide awareness and support for soldier suicide prevention. Everyone is familiar with the "22 a day" slogan but the real number is actually closer to 30. We are organizing this fund raiser in honor of our fallen friend and brother SSG. Souza aka "lunchbox" a dear friend and amazing human who fought a battle silently. We are here to tell you your not alone. All donations go to Stop Soldier Suicide, a non profit organization that provides treatment, phone assistance and other options to soldiers in need. Rather than simply ask for money we have organized a trail walk for our crew to put in the "leg work" so to speak for our cause. We thank you in advance for your contribution.

Stop Soldier Suicide Foundation is important to me because it gives me the opportunity to honor

the 2 most important men in my life. My Uncle Cubby, a 30-year Marine Veteran, who I’m so proud

of for his bravely and service to our country. He is someone who is very dear to my heart. I admire

my Uncle Cubby for his character, and his dedication to his family and country. My brother, who

committed suicide in 2016. He was one of the kindest, most compassionate people I know. He also

put others before himself. He kept all his pain to himself, never reaching out for help. I’m

committed to Stop Soldier Suicide because I know the pain of losing a loved one to suicide, my

brother, and the pride of having a family member service in our Armed Forces. My Uncle Cubby.

This fundraiser is my part in helping others never feel the pain of losing a loved one to suicide and

also honoring those who served our country.

Throttle through the Darkness - Help us end veteran suicide!

This July, four proud members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® NC Chapter 15-3 and VA Chapter 27-1 — Curt “Rambler,” Dan “Kreacher,” "Jex" O, and Jon “Spooky” — will set off on a 6,500-mile motorcycle journey from Knotts Island, North Carolina to Tacoma, Washington, and back. This ride isn’t just about the road — it’s about raising awareness and critical funds to help stop veteran suicide.

We are veterans, and we’ve seen firsthand the toll that service can take — even long after the uniform is hung up. That’s why we’re riding: to support Stop Soldier Suicide, a nonprofit organization that uses cutting-edge methods to identify at-risk veterans and connect them with lifesaving, suicide-specific support.

Every dollar raised goes directly to Stop Soldier Suicide.

We are personally covering all of our own travel expenses — fuel, food, lodging, and gear — so you can be assured your contribution directly supports veterans in crisis.

Hello, my name is Grace. I have been serving in the Army National Guard for over 5 years. I am currently working on transitioning from enlisted to officer with OCS.

I want to raise awareness for those who know someone close who serves or has served and has had mental health issues or taken their own life. Veterans are at a 58% higher risk of suicide than those who haven't served.

With my own experience in knowing battle buddies and family members who have experienced this issue and taken their own life, I'd like to spread awareness and ask others to help me donate and make a change. Your donation will 100% be going to Stop Soldier Suicide. Thank you, God bless!

I'm taking the Stop Soldier Suicide 72-hole Golf Challenge in the month of May. You can pledge a flat amount or an amount per hole that I complete. I currently have 72 holes planned, PLUS you can donate for virtual holes I complete on my at-home simulator! All scores/results will be posted.

On March 23, 2025, we lost a beloved friend, a dedicated leader, and a remarkable Marine Corps veteran, Jeremiah Irwin. Jeremiah served our country with honor for 13 years, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant before being discharged from active duty just last year. He was not only a leader but a beacon of hope and support for his fellow Marines, always putting their needs before his own.

After his service, Jeremiah pursued his passion for education at Duquesne University, where he studied to become a history teacher. His dream was to inspire the next generation, sharing his love for history and the lessons he learned through his military service. Jeremiah’s commitment to serving others extended far beyond the line of duty. He was a true mentor and friend to many.

Tragically, Jeremiah's battle with mental health challenges led to his untimely passing. His story is not just a personal loss but a stark reminder of the struggles faced by many veterans. The rising rates of suicide among our servicemen and women are alarming, and it is imperative that we take action to address this crisis.

To honor Jeremiah’s memory and to support those who continue to fight their battles, I am organizing this fundraiser to benefit Stop Soldier Suicide, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing veteran suicides and providing essential resources to those in need. Suicide can be difficult to talk about, but talking about it is the first step to ending it. With September being National Suicide Awareness Month, Nice News’ latest Cause of the Month beneficiary is Stop Soldier Suicide — the only national nonprofit focused solely on solving the issue of suicide among U.S. veterans and service members.

Military suicide has claimed more lives than most major conflicts — including World War I, the Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terror — and the veteran suicide rate is 72% higher than the U.S. average. Stop Soldier Suicide has set an aggressive goal to change things, aiming to reduce the military suicide rate by 40% no later than 2030.

The nonprofit has several programs that will help it achieve that goal, like ROGER, a wellness service that includes confidential and personalized virtual mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and safety planning. There’s also the Black Box Project, which analyzes trends by processing devices of those who have died by suicide, and a firearm safety program.

The results speak for themselves: Nearly half of Stop Soldier Suicide clients said that it helped prevent an attempt in their life in 2022.

Hello Hello!!

We are raising money for 100 days to donate to “SSS” (Stop Soldier Suicide). We wanted to start a fund raiser for something that seemed like a good cause and this is the one we came up with. We also wanted a reason to not cut our hair or shave our face for 100 days and for everyday that we do not shave or trim our faces we will pay one dollar. This will be the ugliest 100 days of my life btw.

We are running the Detroit Free Press Marathon & Half Marathon to Stop Soldier Suicide…in honor of our best friend/son.

My name is Lisa, and a little over a year ago I never would have imagined I would be making this plea for this cause. The unimaginable happened and I lost my son, a Flight Medic in the U.S Army, to suicide. He was a son, husband, father, brother, grandson, nephew and a friend to many. Suicide is uncomfortable to talk about, and as a society we haven’t been very successful in helping those contemplating it or those families who are dealing with it. I’ve learned since my son died, that literally no one wants to talk about this topic. But talk we must if this is ever going to change for the better. Suicide rates in our young people are very high. My son was only 26 years old. To make matters worse, military and veteran suicide rates are twice as high as the civilian population.

Zachary invited me to run this race with him so that we can support each other, as well as others like his friend - my son.  I accepted this challenge because of the challenge those contemplating suicide face every day. 

I am running the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon because I want to make a difference; I want to do something about this. I want to save a life. I hope  to raise awareness and to start a conversation so that someone else won’t have to lose their loved one to suicide. Running has helped me and I know it’s helped Zachary too. It’s helped me to face my own trauma, grief and isolation that I continue to experience in losing my son so tragically. The pain will never go away, however, I can change the story for someone else. I can contribute my voice, my efforts, the miles I run, and my unfailing support to a cause I know my son would have believed in. His entire life, he wanted to save people, and in his honor and memory, I hope to do the same.
