Army veteran Chris Shover served his country with honor until he was medically discharged. In the years since, he has worked hard to provide for his family while facing significant challenges — from navigating endless VA red tape to managing ongoing physical and mental health struggles.

Recently, Chris experienced serious health issues, including a stroke and heart complications, which have made daily life even more difficult. On top of that, the weight of financial pressures and the mental toll of these struggles led Chris to a breaking point. In a courageous and selfless act, he voluntarily admitted himself to a VA mental health hospital for suicidal thoughts. His goal is not only to heal but to use his experience to help other veterans realize they are not alone and that it’s never too late to ask for help.

While Chris focuses on his recovery, his wife Melissa has had to miss work to care for him and keep things running at home. Their oldest son, Micheal, lives with them and is still recovering from a chronic medical condition and major surgeries over the past two years. Chris and Melissa are also living with their other two sons, Dalton and Dane, all working to support each other and survive. Between lost wages, mounting bills, and essential home repairs — like their broken boiler — the family is struggling to make ends meet.

We’re hoping to raise $2,000 to help cover:

$1,000 to replace Melissa’s lost income while she supports Chris in the hospital

$1,000 toward bills, gas, food, and other essential expenses
Any additional funds will go toward repairing the boiler and easing other urgent financial needs.

Chris gave his time, energy, and health to serve his country. Now, in his time of need, we’re asking the community to stand with him and his family. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement will help lift some of the heavy burden they carry right now.
