Hello everyone. My name is Veronica Gray. I am a recently widowed mother of 5. Last year I lost my husband of 26 years and have been trying to navigate this world without him. Living in California is expensive, but I have managed to keep up with everything until now. Last week I was made aware that I had a water leak in my home which made it's way over to my neighbor's home, which caused some water damage. When I called my home owners insurance I figured out that I had none. I didn't realize that the company that I was using for a 'Bundled" home, Identity theft and Auto insurance was using a third party for my home owners insurance. So seeing the automatic payment coming out of my checking account every month was only paying for my Auto and Identity theft insurance. So now I am responsible for paying for the damage to my neighbors home. Now I'm responsible for approximately $25,000 of work that needs to be done to my neighbors home and I don't have that kind of money. I work full time at Navy Hospital and I also drive for UBER about 40 hours per week just to make sure that I can sustain living in California. I don't know what to do and I need help. I'm so mad at myself that I didn't understand how the insurance was working. I pride myself of always understanding everything that I am taking care of. I do it with my children, my patients and everything else. So zI don't know what else to do in this situation but to ask for help. It's been taking a toll on me trying to figure out how to make this right and this is my last resort. I have a rare autoimmune disorder called Behcets syndrome that is activated when I am stressed and this week it has been really flaring up. So I don't know how many people this will reach and I don't know if anyone is able, but I can really use some help. Know that I am greatful for anything. I just need to make this right and I can't do it on my own.
