Help Vegan Chef Ray Rebuild After Life Changing Surgery

I have known Ray for almost 14 years. He loves teaching boxing and he loves teaching others about whole plant-based eating. Over the Thanksgiving holiday he began to experience pain in his left foot. Saturday night the Baycare ER team determined that his foot was infected with necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria). It is a frightening thing to hear. The doctors determined his best chance for survival and quick recovery was surgery to remove as much infected tissue as they could. They amputated his left foot and part of his lower leg.

When I asked Ray how he could be so calm when they told him what they wanted to do he said he thought of a patron at one of his favorite cafe's who is a double amputee and has such a great personality. She was his inspiration to keep fighting.
