My name is Kay Rudland and I am writing this for my brave best friend, Vanessa Lotz. Ness is a devoted single mother to four wonderful children, aged between twenty one and five.
18 months ago, our (her family and friends) world was turned upside down when Vanessa was diagnosed with Stage 4, incurable breast cancer. Ness was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016; she underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.
The Mission
Vanessa has always been a "tourist" at heart, with a lifelong dream to travel, see the world, and teach her children through experience. In the words of someone somewhere who faced a similar path: "We all come to this world to be tourists... I just so happen to be leaving earlier than others."
We want to make sure that before she leaves, she gets to see as much of the beauty in this world as she can—with her children by her side.
What We Need
Vanessa isn't looking for five-star luxury or grand resorts. She just wants clean sheets, a safe place for her kids to sleep, and the chance to wake up in new places while she is still well enough to travel. Whether it’s a road trip across the UK or a flight to China to visit Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum (terracotta army), which is her dream destination, these funds will go directly towards:
- Travel and transport for Vanessa and her children.
- Modest, comfortable accommodation.
- Accessible sightseeing and memory-making experiences.
How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter the size, helps buy a train ticket, a night in a quiet B&B, or a meal at a new destination. If you cannot donate, please share Vanessa’s story. Help us give this incredible mum and her children the "sightseeing" trips of a lifetime.
