We’re trying to raise enough money to make one last trip to see my mother in law Carol South (or Mana, to her grandchildren) — the woman who’s been our North Star, our steady shoulder to cry on, and the queen of witty comebacks and sarcastic humor. She’s hospital-bound and in very poor health, and doctors believe it’s cancer.

It breaks our hearts that she’s never met our two youngest kids Abby and Rhys, and we haven’t seen her since 2018. We just want to get there while we still can — to hug her, to laugh at her perfectly timed sarcasm, and to remind her how much she’s loved.

We need help covering the cost of renting a car, boarding our dog, a few nights in a hotel, and food along the way. Every little bit helps us get one mile closer to her — and to giving her the love (and maybe a little chaos) only family can bring.
