Help Us Transform Our Overgrown Allotment into a Magical Outdoor Learning Space!

We have been incredibly lucky to have been given an allotment for our preschool — and we are so excited about the possibilities!

Our vision is to transform this neglected, overgrown space into a safe, welcoming and inspiring outdoor learning environment where our children can explore, discover, grow and learn through hands-on experiences with nature.

At the moment, however, the allotment is in complete disarray.

We have nettles reaching around 5 feet high, broken and unsafe fencing, overgrown areas and numerous old structures that need to be dismantled and removed before we can even begin creating our vision.

It is a HUGE job, and unfortunately one that is beyond what we can achieve with our existing preschool resources.

But we don't want to give up on this wonderful opportunity. ❤️

What we hope to create

Our dream is to develop a space where our preschool children can:

Grow flowers, fruit and vegetables

Learn where food comes from

Explore insects, pollinators and wildlife

Connect with nature and the changing seasons

Develop practical skills through hands-on activities

Explore water, mud and natural materials

Safely experience outdoor learning and fire skills

Take part in gardening and caring for living things

‍♀️ Use their imaginations in a natural, open-ended environment

Learn teamwork, resilience, responsibility and independence

We want it to become a place where children can get muddy, take risks safely, ask questions, solve problems and develop a lifelong love of the outdoors.

️ First, we need to clear the way...

Before any of this can happen, we need to tackle the enormous job of clearing the allotment.

Funds raised will help us with things such as:

• Removing the old structures and debris

• Clearing the dense nettles and overgrowth

• Repairing or replacing damaged fencing

• Hiring or purchasing equipment to safely tackle the site

• Removing waste and unwanted materials

• Preparing the ground for planting

• Buying seeds, plants, tools and child-friendly gardening equipment

• Creating safe pathways and activity areas

• Developing habitats for wildlife

We are hoping that our community can help us turn this neglected plot into something truly special.
