Hi, my name is Jo Cassidy and I am the Administration Manager at Westbury Grange Care Home where I have proudly worked for 31 years.
My passion is gardening and I want to use that love to create something special and meaningful for our residents by transforming the garden, bringing joy, comfort and nature to our residents with nursing and dementia needs.
We are reaching out to our community to help raise funds to assist in renovating the garden at our care home - a space that means so much to our residents but is currently worn, tired and in need of some love.
Many of our residents live with nursing and dementia needs and the garden is one of the few places where they can safely enjoy the outdoors and for some, is the only connection to the outside world. Nature offers incredible therapeutic benefits: it soothes anxiety, stimulates memory and brings moments of calm and joy.
Unfortunately, our current garden has become neglected over time and is no longer the charming, welcoming environment they deserve.
With your help we hope to create a beautiful therapeutic garden that supports wellbeing, connection and joy.
A sensory area with colour, scent and activities.
Comfortable seating areas for quiet moments and family visits.
Raised beds for gardening activities
Pathways with meaning for relaxing walks
Refresh worn out areas and seating areas
Generally rejuvenate the entire garden and create a space thats safe, accessible and full of life where our residents can feel relaxed and enjoy the outdoors.
The project isnt just about plants and benches - Its about dignity, happiness and connection. For many of our residents this garden may be the only outdoor space they experience regularly - Please help to make it beautiful again
Every donation - big or small - brings us closer to giving them the space they deserve.
If you cant donate, sharing our story helps too
Thank you for supporting our care home and helping us make this vision a reality
With gratitude
Jo and the team at Westbury
