Wer sind wir?

Wir sind Alais, Valerie und unsere Tochter Mayiani, eine deutsch-tansanische Familie und wir wollen Alais Familie in Tansania den Kauf eines Traktors ermöglichen.

Alais Familie ist eine 11 - köpfige Massai Familie, die (noch) eine traditionelle Lebensweise lebt. Vor einigen Jahren begannen Alais und sein älterer Bruder Lameck, Bohnen und Mais, die Hauptnahrungsmitteln des ostafrikanischen Landes, anzupflanzen. Um das etwa 40 Hektar große Land zu bewirtschaften, ist der Einsatz eines Traktors notwendig. Da die Familie keinen eigenen Traktor besitzt, muss sie jährlich einen Traktor mieten, welcher sehr teuer ist. Die Kosten für die Miete des Traktors belaufen sich auf etwa 1.500 Euro (circa 4 Millionen tansanische Schilling) pro Jahr.

Wofür sammeln wir Geld?

Wir haben schon länger darüber nachgedacht, ob der Besitz eines eigenen Traktors sinnvoll wäre. Wussten aber nicht, wie wir diesen Traum aufgrund der hohen Anschaffungskosten verwirklichen sollten, bis Alais Schwiegermutter Elisabeth die Idee hatte ein Gofundme zu starten.

Kurz darauf war Alais ältester Bruder Joshua auf der Suche nach einem geeigneten Traktor. Er hat sich für einen New Holland Traktor entschieden, der mit einer passenden Zugmaschine circa 25.000 Euro (75.000.000 tansanische Schilling)kostet.

Warum ist das wichtig?

Durch den Erwerb eines eigenen Traktors und passenden Pflug können die hohen jährlichen Mietkosten vermieden werden. Es ist nie leicht für die Familie das nötige Geld zur rechten Zeit parat zu haben, da aktuell kein ausreichendes regelmäßiges Einkommen zur Verfügung steht. Da die Ernte von der Regenzeit abhängig ist, gibt es auch Jahre, in denen die Ernte und somit die wichtigste Einkommensquelle wegfällt. Wäre ein eigener Traktor vorhanden, könnte dieser zusätzlich als Einkommenquelle genutzt werden.

Wofür wird die Spende verwendet?

Das gesamte Geld wird für den Kauf des New Holland Traktors (63 Millionen tansanische Schilling - circa 21.000 Euro) und des Pflugs (12 Millionen tzs - circa 4.000 Euro) verwendet.

Sollte die Gesamtsumme nicht erreicht werden, bietet die Traktorfirma ein Ratenzahlungssystem an, die in dem Fall genutzt werden kann.

Die eingegangen Spenden werden auf unser Bankkonto überwiesen wovon wir es dann gesammelt an die Familie von Alais weiterüberweisen werden.

Mit dem Kauf eines Traktors wäre eine sichere Einkommensquelle gewährleistet und das wäre eine große Hilfe für die gesamte Familie.

Who are we?

We are Alais, Valerie & our daughter Mayiani, a transnational family from Tanzania and Germany and we want to support our tanzanian family to buy a tractor.

Alais Family is a Massai family of 11 members transending from a traditional way of living into the challenges of the modern world. A few years back Alais and his older brother Lameck started to agriculture their land with beans and corn, the main food of the east african country.

To harvest the land of around 40 hectar, it is necessary to use a tractor to take out the crops. Because the family don't own a tractor of themselves they have to rent a tractor, which is very expensive.

The cost for renting the tractor is around 1.500 euro (4 million tanzanian shilling) yearly.

What are we collecting money for?

It has been an idea for longer, to have a tractor of our own, but no idea how to realize this dream, since Alais mother in law, Elisabeth, came up with the idea of using gofundme.

Shortly after Alais oldest brother Joshua was looking for a tractor for the farm of the family in Orkesument, Simanjiro in Tanzania. He selected a New Holland tractor, which costs around 25.000 Euro with a fitting plugh.

Why is that important?

By purchasing a tractor, the yearly high rental costs can be avoided. It is never easy for the family to have the necessary money ready at the right time, as there is currently no high enough regular income available. Since the harvest depends on the rainy season, there are also years in which the harvest and thus the most important source of income are lost. If we had an own tractor, it could also be used as a source of income.

How will the donation be used?

All of the money will be used to buy the new holland tractor and the plugh. If the whole sum will not be reached the tractor company offers a paying-in rate system which we plan to use then. The money will be transfered to our bank account and then we will transfer the whole sum to the family of Alais.

Purchasing a tractor would ensure a secure source of income and would be a great help for the entire family.
