We are a non-profit organisation created with the ultimate aim of reducing serious youth violence: Knife crime, gun crime and gangs by engaging the youthful minds of today. We deem education as vital in order to achieve our goals offering a variety of educational routes to inform young people about the risk of serious youth violence. All routes have two main topics, knife crime and Gun crime/gangs and start with an engagement session to allow students to decide some of the non-mandatory topics of decision.
No matter what youth group we engage with, or community we speak with, part of the solution to current youth issues are youth clubs. We totally agree, and have done for some time. However, we understand that we currently do not have the resources to fill the gap in provision, buildings, staff and other resources to facilitate one. Even if we were, a substantial amount of outreach work would have to be undertaken to engage with young people and find the hard-to-reach youth groups. So, for us, the only option currently available is to take the youth club to the young people.
Our Mobile Youth Club will be a vehicle, converted into a state-of-the-art space packed with technology and equipment for youths to engage with professionals and mentors. This space is not just to reduce serious violence and antisocial behaviour but to work with other agencies to spread awareness on a wider range of topics: substance misuse, healthy relationships, safe sex and future prospects to name a few.
We want this project to be inclusive from the very start: young people, communities and professionals working with us to design the exterior and interior; decide what equipment goes in and what activities they participate in. Here are some ideas of activities and other uses:
• Gaming (PS5/Xbox 1)
• Home work/ revision (Laptops)
• Wide variety of sports
• Music production/ DJ
• Graffiti / arts and crafts
• A quiet place to talk
We will be working with closely with professionals and mentors to provide information on the topics listed below. Finally, we will work with community groups and schools to discover which areas we would benefit the most.
• Knife crime
• Gang culture
• County lines
• Mental health
• Safe sex
• Hate crime
• Homelessness/Tenancy Management including budgeting
• Substance misuse
• Education Employment and Training (EET) support
Once we have visited an area and are able to prove that we have made a difference, we want to work with people within the community to create a permeant youth club. Providing qualifications, resources, and support: creating sustainable projects.
If you can donate a vehicle, are willing to help us convert it or if you want to help with this project please get in touch.
