Help Us Support Grieving Children in Connecticut
This past year, I had the privilege of joining the Board of Directors for The Cove Center for Grieving Children — a mission-driven organization that has deeply touched the lives of families across Connecticut.
The Cove began right here in my hometown of Guilford in 1995. It was founded by a father who, after losing his wife, found very little support for his three young children struggling with grief. What started with just six families has grown into a vital network of seven sites across the state. Each location offers free, 20-week group support sessions that meet twice a month, helping children and families navigate the painful journey of loss — together.
In addition to these programs, The Cove hosts an annual weekend bereavement camp, giving kids the chance to connect with others who understand what they’re going through — and most importantly, to just be kids again.
Though I’ve never needed to attend The Cove’s programs personally, I first became aware of the organization as a teen after the sudden death of one of my soccer coaches. Watching the community come together, I saw firsthand the power of shared support and healing. The Cove gives children that same chance — a safe, nurturing place to process grief, build resilience, and find hope.
As we approach the end of The Cove’s fiscal year, I’m reaching out during our annual appeal to ask for your support. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly impact children and families in their most vulnerable moments.
Please consider giving to this truly meaningful cause. Your kindness helps ensure that no child in Connecticut has to grieve alone.
