Every Child Deserves to Feel Seen, Valued and Remembered

For most of us, receiving an Eid gift is something we look forward to. But imagine being a child in care, away from your family, and wondering whether anyone will remember you when Eid comes.

Following the response to our last Eid gift project, Leicester’s Local Authority has asked Muslim Children in Care Council to support even more children and young people in their care.

This time, we want to provide:

50 Qur’ans

50 Qur’an Reflection Packs with a box of Border Biscuits

50 Prayer Mat and Tasbeeh Gift Sets

These gifts will go to children in care, young people who have recently arrived in the UK, care leavers and young people who may have been through difficult experiences or are separated from their families.

Why does this matter?

Because sometimes a small gift can mean so much.

One social worker told us:

“The gifts were very well received and made our young people feel recognised, valued, and included.”

One young person who had recently become Muslim told us that her gift would help her practise her faith.

For another child, it may simply be knowing that someone remembered them on Eid.

A Qur’an.

A prayer mat.

A gift to open.

A box of biscuits to enjoy.

These may seem like small things, but for a child who is away from home or family, they can bring comfort and remind them that they matter too.

We don't want any Muslim child in care to feel forgotten when their community is celebrating.
