Hello, my name is Leynel Pérez, and today I am asking for urgent help to protect my children and keep a roof over their heads.

My family and I arrived legally in the United States a little over two years ago, seeking safety and a chance to build a stable future. The only home we were able to rent at that time already had many issues, but it was our only option to start our life here and give my kids a sense of stability.

Since the day we arrived, I have worked tirelessly in every job I could find: airport work, house and office cleaning, Christmas decorations, and for the last six months, deliveries with Spark, Uber, and DoorDash. I have always done whatever it takes to care for my children and cover our basic needs.

But recently, a chain of events pushed us into a situation I could not overcome alone:

1. To stay legal in this country and protect my children, I used our rental money and our savings to process our residency.

It was a necessary step for our future, and the cost was high — but it was the right thing to do to secure our stability here.

2. Shortly after, my car — my only tool for working and earning income — broke down badly.

I spent three weeks unable to work, and the repair cost more money than I had left. Without a car, I simply cannot produce income. I had to use the little remaining money to fix it so I could go back to work.

Those weeks without normal income, combined with the repair expenses, left me unable to pay the rent on time. It wasn’t irresponsibility — it was a situation beyond my control. I NEVER refused to pay.

Later in October, a water leak occurred in the roof, which affected us again, preventing us from using part of the house and making us sick from the prevailing humidity.

I even explained to the property administrator that I would make weekly payments until the debt was cleared. During our phone call, he told me that would be fine — but hours later, the opposite happened.

On Friday, November 21st, I received a “pay or eviction” notice. Our deadline is November 26th.

If I cannot pay what I owe, my children (9 and 13 years old) and I will lose our home.

We have nowhere else to go.

My kids are good children — honor roll students, recognized for their strong values and good behavior at school. They deserve stability, safety, and a home where they can continue growing.

The goal of this campaign is to raise enough funds to pay the overdue rent and stop the eviction.

I continue working every day, but what I earn right now is not enough to cover the full amount before the deadline.

Every donation — no matter how small — brings us closer to keeping a safe home and preventing my children from becoming homeless.

Hola, mi nombre es Leynel Pérez, y estoy pidiendo ayuda en un momento crítico para mi familia.

Llegamos legalmente a Estados Unidos hace poco más de dos años, buscando seguridad y un futuro digno para mis hijos. Desde entonces he trabajado en todo lo que he podido: en el aeropuerto, limpieza de casas y oficinas, decoraciones navideñas y, desde hace 6 meses, realizando entregas con Spark, Uber y DoorDash. He luchado siempre para cubrir nuestros gastos y mantener estabilidad, pero una cadena de situaciones fuera de mi control nos dejó sin margen.

Para poder continuar viviendo legalmente en este país y proteger a mis hijos, invertí nuestros ahorros y parte del dinero del alquiler en tramitar la residencia. Era un paso necesario para asegurar nuestro futuro aquí. Mi plan era trabajar más horas para reponer ese dinero, pero justo después ocurrió lo inesperado.

Mi carro, que es literalmente mi herramienta de trabajo, sufrió una avería grave. Estuve tres semanas sin poder producir ingresos y la reparación costó una cantidad que tuve que asumir de inmediato. Sin carro no hay trabajo, y sin trabajo no hay ingreso. Ese tiempo sin producir, sumado a los gastos de reparación, fue lo que finalmente me impidió cubrir el alquiler. No fue falta de esfuerzo, fue una crisis que superó todo lo que podía manejar.

Porteriormente, en los primero días en el mes de octubre, hubo una filtración de agua en el techo del primer piso que nos afectó en la salud y en la producción de dinero.

A pesar de eso, nunca me he negado a pagar. Le expliqué al administrador que continuaría poniéndome al día cada semana hasta saldar la deuda. En una llamada me dijeron que estaba bien, pero horas después recibí lo contrario: una orden de pago o desalojo.

El viernes 21 de noviembre recibí la notificación, y la fecha límite es el 26. Si no logro reunir el monto, mis hijos —de 9 y 13 años— y yo perderemos nuestro hogar. No tenemos a dónde ir. Somos una familia trabajadora, honesta, y mis hijos tienen cuadro de honor y reconocimientos por su buen desempeño y conducta en la escuela. Ellos no merecen vivir esta situación.

El objetivo de esta campaña es recaudar los fondos necesarios para cubrir la deuda del alquiler y evitar el desalojo inmediato. Yo sigo trabajando todos los días, pero lo que produzco no alcanza para cubrir todo antes de la fecha límite. Por eso, con humildad, pido ayuda.

Cada donación —por pequeña que sea— tiene un impacto real. Cada aporte nos acerca a mantener un techo seguro para mis hijos y a tener una segunda oportunidad para recuperarnos.
