Help us sort out my brother's house and raise my nephew

Hi,

In February my brother suddenly died, leaving behind his 7-year old son (my nephew). As no one else was in a position to raise my nephew, I quit my job to be there for him, give him a loving home, help him process this trauma and get the academic and mental health support he needs.

Although this was the right decision, my family are really struggling with the decreased income and increased costs. As I'm not the biological parent, everything is harder and more expensive (for example, I can't claim Medicare rebates on before-school care). My brother's house was left in a state where it needs professional clearers to sort through decades of hoarding.

In short, we do not have the money to be able to clear the house. We can't access the estate until probate happens, and even then we are concerned this is going to unveil debts rather than surplus.

Please help out my family if you have even the tiniest bit of money spare. It really will go a long way while my family continue to navigate this utter nightmare and try to provide as much stability as possible for my nephew.
