Our Mission

We are raising funds to produce a powerful film that exposes the injustices faced by women and children in the UK family court system. Directed by filmmaker Anne-Marie Scragg in collaboration with Motherwell Cheshire this film aims to amplify the voices of those who have been silenced and advocate for urgent policy change.

The Problem

Many women navigating the family court system often feel powerless and unheard. Cross-examinations by perpetrators, inadequate legal support, and a high-conflict environment can lead to devastating consequences for mothers and their children. This broken system must be addressed to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable families. Some women that Motherwell have worked with leave the courtroom and have no idea whether their children will continue to live with them.

What We Aim to Achieve

Over the past four years, our we have interviewed numerous women about their experiences in the family court system, gathering powerful and painful testimonials that highlight the urgent need for change. Through these interviews and personal narratives, this film will:

- Raise public awareness about the systemic injustices in the family court system.

- Empower women to share their stories and advocate for change.

- Engage with policymakers to push for reform and create a fairer judicial process.
