Melanating Missions: Serve and Uplift in Nairobi's Slums

Peace unto you, my friend,

My name is Dominique Rencher. I am writing to share an opportunity that is both deeply personal and profoundly impactful—a mission trip to Kenya with Melanating Missions partnering with Sewing Seeds of Joy. This trip, scheduled from June 19 to June 30, is not a vacation but a purposeful journey of service, spiritual growth, and cultural exchange.

During this trip, we will be involved in:

• Evangelism & Discipleship – Engaging in open-air crusades, door-to-door evangelism, and church ministry.

• Community Transformation – Serving in Nairobi’s second-largest slum and rural areas outside Malindi.

• Pastoral Care & Leadership Training – Equipping pastors and church leaders to strengthen their ministries.

• Ministry Outreach – Working with Vision Empowerment College, participating in a Couples’ Breakfast, Soccer Outreach, and Preaching at local churches and high school assemblies.

In addition to ministry, we will also experience Kenya’s vibrant culture, bustling cities, and breathtaking landscapes—from Nairobi’s lively streets to the serene coastal region of Malindi.

For me, this trip is much more than travel; it is a highly spiritual event that will enrich my walk with God and help me grow in faith. After wrestling with the idea of missions for some time, I have decided to take this bold step, trusting that God will work powerfully through this experience. As an African American, I see this as a beautiful opportunity to serve people who share my heritage—providing care in a respectful and genuine way without the stigma or imposing optics that can sometimes accompany aid.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover transportation, food, lodging, and any incidentals during the trip. I am aiming to complete my fundraising by May 1, so every contribution, no matter how small—even $5—is a step towards witnessing the LORD move through us to make a difference. Your generosity will not only help cover essential expenses but also empower us to sow seeds of joy, compassion, and lasting change overseas.
