Hi, my name is Rebecca Burley, and I’m based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire (UK).

I run a small local food business called Carter’s Caribbean Cuisine, alongside my husband, and we’re teaming up with Style by Tash, a local hair salon, to send a pallet of emergency supplies to Westmoreland, Jamaica — one of the areas worst affected by Hurricane Melissa.

We both have family and friends in Jamaica, and we’ve seen first-hand how badly people are struggling — homes flooded, roofs torn off, and families left with nothing.

This GoFundMe is to cover the costs of:

Buying a shipping barrel (and packaging materials)

Paying shipping and customs clearance fees

Buying extra essential items if donations run short (like nappies, oil, or tinned food)

We’ve already found a registered UK charity who will provide a letter confirming that all goods are for humanitarian relief, not for resale. This means the shipment can enter Jamaica free of customs charges.

All money raised will go directly towards this relief effort — not a penny will be used for personal gain.

We’ll post proof of purchase, updates, and photos of the collected goods, the packed barrel, and the shipment progress on our Facebook page so everyone can see exactly how funds are spent.

We’re aiming to send the barrel as soon as it’s full and cleared for shipping. Every small donation genuinely helps — £5 can buy a pack of nappies or a bag of rice for a family in need.
