While Alexis is currently listed on Charlotte’s birth certificate as Charlotte's "father," this alone doesn't provide full legal protection. If anything were to happen to Anna or if the validity of same-sex marriage were to be questioned, Alexis’s parental rights could be at risk. We hope to never have to prove Alexis's parental rights, but in the case that we need to, we want to be prepared.
