Our youth football club is run entirely by volunteers and supports over 140 local children aged 5–16. For many of them, this club is more than football it’s a safe place to belong, build confidence, make friends, and stay active.
Recently, our club suffered a devastating setback.
Our club tractor and essential groundskeeping equipment were stolen, with losses estimated at £20,000. Only recently, the club had spent £8,000 on vital repairs and maintenance to keep our grass cutter running safely making this loss even harder to bear. The theft was discovered just as our children were arriving for training, turning what should have been a normal football morning into a moment of shock and heartbreak for everyone involved.
This tractor is essential, not a luxury. It allows us to keep our pitches safe and playable so children can train and play matches week after week. Without it, we simply cannot maintain our grounds and without safe pitches, football stops.
As a volunteer-run grassroots club, our funding comes from modest subscriptions, small grants, and community fundraising. A loss of this scale combined with recent repair costs and damage to our storage facilities is something we simply cannot recover from on our own.
If we are unable to replace this equipment and repair the damage, the consequences are heartbreaking:
• Training sessions may be cancelled
• Matches may be called off
• 140 local children could lose their football community
